Short bio: Hello!! My name is Gabrielle Watson from Denton, Texas. I am married to my college sweetie that I lovingly refer to as GG (Gavin), and I am the uber-proud mom of Harper and Sawyer. In my free time I love hanging out with my family and friends, capturing memories on camera, and documenting our memories through scrapbooking. I also love to shop (do you know any scrappers that don’t?), especially at Goodwill, vintage shops, flea markets, and anywhere discount goods can be purchased.
How did you get started scrapbooking? I was inspired by my mom. She’s been scrapbooking since the mid-90s. In 2009, when my daughter was 2 weeks old, I bought my first paper pack, adhesive, pens, and I borrowed a paper trimmer and old stickers from my mom. I had so much fun. I started as a floor scrapper. I spread out over the wood floor in our guest room (at our old house). Then I upgraded to a table and scrapbook space after about 3 months of scrapping uncomfortably. I fell in love. For me scrapbooking is a great form of therapy and creative release. Attending local monthly crops is my favorite; I also like to host them at my house when I can. Additionally, I attend weekend retreats at Memory Lane Inn each summer and winter.
What are scrapbook products you can’t live without? To me the bare essentials of scrapbooking are my pink ATG gun and tape refills from Tape Depot, a good pair of scissors, pattern paper, Thickers, a black pen, a white pen, and photos.
Why is Memory Lane Inn your favorite scrapbook and craft retreat? Honestly, I LOVE everything about Memory Lane Inn from the excellent workspace and craft room down to the cozy towels and mini-toiletries. I literally love EVERYTHING about Memory Lane Inn. I feel that the Downs family has truly though of everything for their guests. I’ve never had a bad experience. The food is always on par, the beds are cozy and warm (even on chilly nights), and the craft room is to die for. I wish I lived there. I generally attend a retreat 1-2 times per year, but it is not often enough IMO. Scrapbookers are the most friendly of people, so even when I stay with a mixed group of gals, I always have a wonderful time. I always sleep deeply thanks to the little earplugs that can be found in a bathroom drawer; it could also be because I stay up until the wee hours in the morning watching chick-flicks, drinking pop, eating candy, and getting my scrap on. I just always have a ton a fun, and I look forward to my upcoming stays. I’ll be there next in a couple of weeks. I am counting down the days by organizing my photo collection, building kits out of my stash, editing photos and getting them uploaded to print. I like to be prepared, so I can make the most out of my ALL day and night scrapathons.
Thanks for the opportunity to share my projects with you today. I am so excited about this blog and all the possibilities for tutorials, techniques, products, and inspiration.
