Halloween is fun for people of all ages. Kids in cute costumes and buckets full of candy can lead to a lot of photo worthy moments that you will want to turn into amazing scrapbook pages. There are several directions you can go with scrapbooking for Halloween and fall. Keep reading for inspiration and some fun ideas you can work on during your next visit to Memory Lane Inn. Embrace the dark side If you are going for Halloween pages that have a spooky element to them then don't be afraid to embrace the dark side.   It doesn't seem like that long ago (although it has been well over a decade since digital photos became more common than film) that I would take my film to the store and anxiously wait for the pictures to be developed. Once one hour printing was an option I ALWAYS paid extra to get it done in an hour because I am impatient! Things are much better now that I can see the pictures immediately on my phone or digital camera. I have recently started learning more about photo editing and now I am impatient to get the pictures on my computer and start editing! One of the benefits of digital photography is that you do not have to get all the pictures you take printed just to see what you have. Now you can choose only the...

If your kids (or grandkids) are anything like mine, they love looking at pictures of themselves and their loved ones. My kids also love taking pictures with my phone and my camera. Needless to say, I have A LOT of pictures saved on my phone and computer. My middle son is always asking me to take pictures with him so there are numerous selfies of us on my phone. I decided to make him a scrapbook full of the selfies along with pictures of our family and friends. He is a rowdy five-year-old, so the scrapbook has to be durable and portable. As I searched the local craft store for materials that would work, I found a chalkboard banner. A photo banner sounded like a great idea because it can be used in multiple settings such as birthday p...

blog-mini-scrapbooks.jpg
My mother-in-law has a beautiful table behind her sofa where she displays some of her most prized possessions. Among the keepsakes, there is a ceramic bear from Germany, a photo of herself with her mother and sister, and a mini-scrapbook. The scrapbook was a gift from her oldest daughter sixteen years ago. When my sister-in-law became a mother, she decided to make a mini scrapbook for her mom called the ‘ABCs of Motherhood’. The pages are full of snapshots of the children throughout the years with cute phrases that coincide with the pictures, such as ‘A is for Attitude.’ The scrapbook is simple but it is full of meaning and memories for my mother-in-law.              ...

Creating a Cookbook & Recipe Cards Hey, Y'all - Stefani here from Styles by Stefani.  Just wanted to stop in during the holidays to make a little suggestion for a fun project.  As you go through the holidays and you prepare those special meals and treats, snap some pictures of them.  Why you ask???  Well, I have two fun project ideas..... We all have that one special something that everyone is always asking for the recipe or maybe you are the fabulous cook of your family!  For me, I have really upped my game the last few years and started making some elaborate meals.  Now is the time of year that I do a lot more elaborate meals and some heavier/comfort favorites along with making those fun candies, desserts and snac...
Secrets of a Savvy Scrapper: Scrapbook Deal A Day Sites Hi again! It's Gabrielle from the blog From Watson with Love, and today I want to talk to you about saving money on scrapbook supplies. A few months ago I shared a post about how I plan, prep, and pack for a retreat or crop, and on my personal blog, I've often talked about how I save money by building my own scrapbook kits and of course, couponing (I'm kind of an amateur coupon queen, or at least I like to think so...). As of late, my stash is getting pretty thin, and it's probably time to buy some new paper, thickers, washi tape, embellishments and maybe even some scrappy tools. I'm not a scrapbook supply hoarder by any means.  Scrappers that know me on a personal level, know that I get rid of stuff pretty frequently.  When my ...
Planning, Prepping, and Packing for a Retreat Hi everyone! It’s Gabi of From Watson With Love blogging today from Memory Lane Inn!! I’ll be here through Sunday. I am super stoked to get some REAL scrapbooking done. There are a lot of fun things going on this weekend. In addition to scrapbooking, I’ll be shopping at Third Monday Trade Days in McKinney on Friday, and on Saturday, I’ll be attending my 10 year high school reunion. It is crazy to think of what has passed in those 10 years.   I started college, moved into my own apartment, started a career in recruiting, met my future husband, got married at 20, honeymooned at Disney World, spent our first anniversary at Disney World, left recruiting for a career in higher education, bought our first home, had my daugh...

Guest Blogger: Stefani Chastain Short bio: Hey, Y'all....It's Stefani from Styles By Stefani.  I'm so excited to be a guest contributor on the Memory Lane Inn blog.  I'm a crafter from Plano.  Married for 10 years and the mom of two spoiled rotten Boston Terriers!  My day job is as an accountant, but I love working on anything creative!  I love making gifts for other people, but I really don't like making the same thing twice, so I try to keep it fresh!  Another of my favorite activities is organizing!  I love making lists and planning as well as organizing anything from the pantry to my garage.    How did you get started crafting?  I come from a long line of crafty ladies....sewing, crocheting and needlework....
Guest Blogger: Gabrielle Watson Our first guest blogger is Gabrielle Watson (Blog: From Watson With Love | Instagram: @fromwatsonwithlove | Pinterest: @fromwatson | Twitter: @gabiwatson86)   Short bio: Hello!! My name is Gabrielle Watson from Denton, Texas.  I am married to my college sweetie that I lovingly refer to as GG (Gavin), and I am the uber-proud mom of Harper and Sawyer.  In my free time I love hanging out with my family and friends, capturing memories on camera, and documenting our memories through scrapbooking.  I also love to shop (do you know any scrappers that don’t?), especially at Goodwill, vintage shops, flea markets, and anywhere discount goods can be purchased.    How did you get started scrapb...
